Your Are Chosen

Sep. 30, 2020 - Pastor Tim Brisson

 —

You didn't choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. (Jhn 15:16 NLT)

This is my command: Love each other. (Jhn 15:17 NLT)

"I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. (Jhn 17:22 NLT)

I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. (Jhn 17:23 NLT)

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Gal 5:22,23 NLT)

Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world's eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. (1Co 1:26 NLT)

He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. (2Co 1:4 NLT)

Proverbs 3:5, 6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. (Pro 3:5 NLT)

Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. (Pro 3:6 NLT)

PSALM 91

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. (Psa 91:1 NLT)

This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. (Psa 91:2 NLT)

For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. (Psa 91:3 NLT)

He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. (Psa 91:4 NLT)

Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. (Psa 91:5 NLT)

Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. (Psa 91:6 NLT)

Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. (Psa 91:7 NLT)

Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. (Psa 91:8 NLT)

If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, (Psa 91:9 NLT)

no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. (Psa 91:10 NLT)

For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. (Psa 91:11 NLT)

They will hold you up with their hands so you won't even hurt your foot on a stone. (Psa 91:12 NLT)

You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! (Psa 91:13 NLT)

The LORD says, "I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. (Psa 91:14 NLT)

When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. (Psa 91:15 NLT)

I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation." (Psa 91:16 NLT)

Revelation Chapter 5 — The Scroll in Action

Rev. 5:1-14

Text of chapter:

Then I saw a scroll in the right hand of the one who was sitting on the throne. There was writing on the inside and the outside of the scroll, and it was sealed with seven seals. (Rev 5:1 NLT)

And I saw a strong angel, who shouted with a loud voice: "Who is worthy to break the seals on this scroll and open it?" (Rev 5:2 NLT)

But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll and read it. (Rev 5:3 NLT) Then I began to weep bitterly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll and read it. (Rev 5:4 NLT)

But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, "Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David's throne, has won the victory.

He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals." (Rev 5:5 NLT)

Then I saw a Lamb that looked as if it had been slaughtered, but it was now standing between the throne and the four living beings and among the twenty-four elders.

He had seven horns and seven eyes, which represent the sevenfold Spirit of God that is sent out into every part of the earth. (Rev 5:6 NLT)

He stepped forward and took the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne. (Rev 5:7 NLT)

And when he took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp, and they held gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of God's people. (Rev 5:8 NLT)

And they sang a new song with these words: "You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. (Rev 5:9 NLT)

And you have caused them to become a Kingdom of priests for our God. And they will reign on the earth." (Rev 5:10 NLT)

Then I looked again, and I heard the voices of thousands and millions of angels around the throne and of the living beings and the elders. (Rev 5:11 NLT)

And they sang in a mighty chorus: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered--to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing." (Rev 5:12 NLT)

And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea.

They sang: "Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to the one sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever." (Rev 5:13 NLT)

And the four living beings said, "Amen!" And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped the Lamb. (Rev 5:14 NLT)

As for Philip, an angel of the Lord said to him, "Go south down the desert road that runs from Jerusalem to Gaza." (Act 8:26 NLT)

So he started out, and he met the treasurer of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under the Kandake, the queen of Ethiopia. The eunuch had gone to Jerusalem to worship, (Act 8:27 NLT)

and he was now returning. Seated in his carriage, he was reading aloud from the book of the prophet Isaiah. (Act 8:28 NLT)

The Holy Spirit said to Philip, "Go over and walk along beside the carriage." (Act 8:29 NLT)

Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked, "Do you understand what you are reading?" (Act 8:30 NLT)

The passage of Scripture he had been reading was this: "He was led like a sheep to the slaughter. And as a lamb is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. (Act 8:32 NLT)

He was humiliated and received no justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth." (Act 8:33 NLT)

The eunuch asked Philip, "Tell me, was the prophet talking about himself or someone else?" (Act 8:34 NLT)

So beginning with this same Scripture, Philip told him the Good News about Jesus. (Act 8:35 NLT)

As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, "Look! There's some water! Why can't I be baptized?" (Act 8:36 NLT)

“You can,” Philip answered, “if you believe with all your heart.” And the eunuch replied, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” (Act 8:37 NLT)

He ordered the carriage to stop, and they went down into the water, and Philip baptized him. (Act 8:38 NLT)

And I saw another angel flying through the sky, carrying the eternal Good News to proclaim to the people who belong to this world--to every nation, tribe, language, and people. (Rev 14:6 NLT)

Sermon Notes for 8-19-2020

Text of Chapater 4:

Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this." (Rev 4:1 NLT)

And instantly I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it. (Rev 4:2 NLT)

The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones--like jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a rainbow. (Rev 4:3 NLT)

Twenty-four thrones surrounded him, and twenty-four elders sat on them. They were all clothed in white and had gold crowns on their heads. (Rev 4:4 NLT)

From the throne came flashes of lightning and the rumble of thunder. And in front of the throne were seven torches with burning flames. This is the sevenfold Spirit of God. (Rev 4:5 NLT)

In front of the throne was a shiny sea of glass, sparkling like crystal. In the center and around the throne were four living beings, each covered with eyes, front and back. (Rev 4:6 NLT)

The first of these living beings was like a lion; the second was like an ox; the third had a human face; and the fourth was like an eagle in flight. (Rev 4:7 NLT)

Each of these living beings had six wings, and their wings were covered all over with eyes, inside and out. Day after day and night after night they keep on saying, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty--the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come." (Rev 4:8 NLT)

Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever), (Rev 4:9 NLT)

the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say, (Rev 4:10 NLT)

"You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased." (Rev 4:11 NLT)

The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, "Master, Master, we're going to drown!" When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm. Then he asked them, "Where is your faith?" The disciples were terrified and amazed. "Who is this man?" they asked each other. "When he gives a command, even the wind and waves obey him!" (Luk 8:24-25 NLT)

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. (Rev 21:1 NLT)

Then Jesus led them to Bethany, and lifting his hands to heaven, he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven. So they worshiped him and then returned to Jerusalem filled with great joy. And they spent all of their time in the Temple, praising God. (Luk 24:50-53 NLT)

Who then will condemn us? No one--for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God's right hand, pleading for us. (Rom 8:34 NLT)

Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf. (Heb 7:25 NLT)

Sermon Notes for 8-12-2020

"Write this letter to the angel of the church in Laodicea. This is the message from the one who is the Amen--the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's new creation: (Rev 3:14 NLT)

"I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! (Rev 3:15 NLT)

But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth! (Rev 3:16 NLT)

You say, 'I am rich. I have everything I want. I don't need a thing!' And you don't realize that you are retched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. (Rev 3:17 NLT)

So I advise you to buy gold from me--gold that has been purified by fire. Then you will be rich. Also buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness, and ointment for your eyes so you will be able to see. (Rev 3:18 NLT)

I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference. (Rev 3:19 NLT)

"Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. (Rev 3:20 NLT)

Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne. (Rev 3:21 NLT)

"Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches." (Rev 3:22 NLT)

Jesus' message in Laodicea had been crowded out by W___________ of this life, the L________ of wealth, and the D____________ for other things.

As a result, no F_________ was being produced.

"The seed that fell among the thorns represents others who hear God's word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no fruit is produced." (Mar 4:19 NLT)

Do you benefit if you gain the whole W_________ by are L____________ yourself?

If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed? (Luk 9:24-25 NLT)

Pursue R__________________ and a Godly L____________.

But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. (1Ti 6:11 NLT)

Be R___________ in good works and be R______________ to share with others.

Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. (1Ti 6:17-18 NLT)

Letter to the Church of Philadelphia

Rev. 3:7-13

Text of letter:

"Write this letter to the angel of the church in Philadelphia. This is the message from the one who is holy and true, the one who has the key of David. What he opens, no one can close; and what he closes, no one can open: (Rev 3:7 NLT)

"I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me. (Rev 3:8 NLT)

Look, I will force those who belong to Satan's synagogue--those liars who say they are Jews but are not--to come and bow down at your feet. They will acknowledge that you are the ones I love. (Rev 3:9 NLT)

"Because you have obeyed my command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of testing that will come upon the whole world to test those who belong to this world. (Rev 3:10 NLT)

I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown. (Rev 3:11 NLT)

All who are victorious will become pillars in the Temple of my God, and they will never have to leave it. And I will write on them the name of my God, and they will be citizens in the city of my God--the new Jerusalem that comes down from heaven from my God. And I will also write on them my new name. (Rev 3:12 NLT)

"Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. (Rev 3:13 NLT)

Jesus says the church in Philadelphia had the W____________ of God and the T______________  of Jesus.

Jacob's L____________ was his C____.

The sun was rising as Jacob left Peniel, and he was limping because of the injury to his hip. (Gen 32:31 NLT)

Jesus tells the church to H___________ onto what you have, so that no one will T____________ away their crown.

Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown. (Rev 3:11 NLT)

Jesus prayed that we be kept S____________ from the W_________, not taken from it.

I'm not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. (Jhn 17:15 NLT)

WHAT IS THE CROWN?

L__________ (God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. (Jas 1:12 NLT))

R________________ (And now the prize awaits me--the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing. (2Ti 4:8 NLT))

N____________ E_____________ G___________ and H______________

And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor. (1Pe 5:4 NLT)

Letter to the Church of Sardis

Text of letter:

"Write this letter to the angel of the church in Sardis. This is the message from the one who has the sevenfold Spirit of God and the seven stars:

"I know all the things you do, and that you have a reputation for being alive--but you are dead. (Rev 3:1 NLT)

Wake up! Strengthen what little remains, for even what is left is almost dead. I find that your actions do not meet the requirements of my God. (Rev 3:2 NLT)

Go back to what you heard and believed at first; hold to it firmly. Repent and turn to me again. If you don't wake up, I will come to you suddenly, as unexpected as a thief. (Rev 3:3 NLT)

"Yet there are some in the church in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes with evil. They will walk with me in white, for they are worthy. (Rev 3:4 NLT)

All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that they are mine. (Rev 3:5 NLT)

"Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. (Rev 3:6 NLT)

Jesus says we can have a great R____________, but still be Spiritually D_______.

The Church in Sardis was being C____________ by their S____.

Sardis had N___________ the more important things: J____________ and the L________ of God.

"What sorrow awaits you Pharisees! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore justice and the love of God. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things. (Luk 11:42 NLT)

Hold onto a P____________ shaped by the F_________ and L______________ that you have in Christ Jesus

Hold on to the pattern of wholesome teaching you learned from me--a pattern shaped by the faith and love that you have in Christ Jesus. Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you. (2Ti 1:14 NLT)

If we lose control, we need to R____________ and T_________ to Jesus.

Go back to what you heard and believed at first; hold to it firmly. Repent and turn to me again. If you don't wake up, I will come to you suddenly, as unexpected as a thief. (Rev 3:3 NLT)

Step 11: We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

WE SHOW LOVE, WE HOLD FAST TO OUR FAITH, WE ARE MODELS OF SERVICE, WE DEMONSTRATE PATIENT ENDURANCE, AND WE SHOW CONSTANT IMPROVEMENT
