Sermon Notes for 8-19-2020
Text of Chapater 4:
Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this." (Rev 4:1 NLT)
And instantly I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it. (Rev 4:2 NLT)
The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones--like jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a rainbow. (Rev 4:3 NLT)
Twenty-four thrones surrounded him, and twenty-four elders sat on them. They were all clothed in white and had gold crowns on their heads. (Rev 4:4 NLT)
From the throne came flashes of lightning and the rumble of thunder. And in front of the throne were seven torches with burning flames. This is the sevenfold Spirit of God. (Rev 4:5 NLT)
In front of the throne was a shiny sea of glass, sparkling like crystal. In the center and around the throne were four living beings, each covered with eyes, front and back. (Rev 4:6 NLT)
The first of these living beings was like a lion; the second was like an ox; the third had a human face; and the fourth was like an eagle in flight. (Rev 4:7 NLT)
Each of these living beings had six wings, and their wings were covered all over with eyes, inside and out. Day after day and night after night they keep on saying, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty--the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come." (Rev 4:8 NLT)
Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever), (Rev 4:9 NLT)
the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say, (Rev 4:10 NLT)
"You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased." (Rev 4:11 NLT)
The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, "Master, Master, we're going to drown!" When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm. Then he asked them, "Where is your faith?" The disciples were terrified and amazed. "Who is this man?" they asked each other. "When he gives a command, even the wind and waves obey him!" (Luk 8:24-25 NLT)
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. (Rev 21:1 NLT)
Then Jesus led them to Bethany, and lifting his hands to heaven, he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven. So they worshiped him and then returned to Jerusalem filled with great joy. And they spent all of their time in the Temple, praising God. (Luk 24:50-53 NLT)
Who then will condemn us? No one--for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God's right hand, pleading for us. (Rom 8:34 NLT)
Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf. (Heb 7:25 NLT)
